Unlocking Clean Energy Funding: How Tax-Exempt Entities Can Benefit from the Direct Pay Tool

Learn more about the Direct Pay tool, a provision in the Inflation Reduction Act that allows tax-exempt entities to receive tax-free cash payments to partially cover the costs of clean energy/energy efficiency projects.
Amy Turner, Director of the Cities Climate Law Initiative at the Columbia Law School’s Sabin Center for Climate Change Law, will join the NALCAB team to discuss the tool and how it can be used to lift up communities. Amy’s work focuses on the laws and legal tools cities use to achieve their climate and equity commitments. She is co-author of the book Urban Climate Law from Columbia University Press and is widely cited in press stories on local climate law and policy. Amy is also a senior advisor to the Sustainable Cities Fund.
