As Congress works on putting together its fiscal year 2019 budget, NALCAB is advocating on behalf of its members for full and robust funding of programs that create jobs for low income individuals, increase small business opportunities and provide credit, capital, and financial services to underserved communities across the country.
Throughout the month of March, NALCAB has been in contact with congressional offices to communicate our support for federal programs that fuel community and economic development in Latino communities.
Programs NALCAB has supported so far include the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund, the Community Economic Development (CED) program, and vital resources overseen by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The appropriations process will continue throughout the summer and fall, during which members of Congress will negotiate specific funding levels. NALCAB will remain engaged during the entirety of the process, working to ensure our network’s voice is heard.
