Maker to Market Accelerator (M2M)
WASHINGTON, DC – NALCAB (National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders), in partnership with Truist Foundation, today announced the launch of the Maker-to-Market Accelerator (M2M), an 18-month national initiative supported by a $2 million investment from Truist Foundation to strengthen nonprofit organizations serving small-scale manufacturers nationwide.
The Maker-to-Market Accelerator aims to expand nonprofit capacity to help manufacturing businesses scale operations, grow business assets, create and retain jobs, and contribute to strong local and national economies. The program supports food producers, makers, fabricators, and other product-based entrepreneurs that often face barriers to capital, facilities, and specialized technical assistance.
As part of the program’s launch, NALCAB also announced the award of a total of $300,000 in grants to 12 nonprofit organizations, with each receiving $25,000 to support participation in the M2M Accelerator and support the local implementation of training, peer learning, and technical assistance. A select group of this cohort will receive lending capital to support the program’s implementation.
“Supporting small manufacturers will result in long-term vitality for our nation,” said Marla Bilonick, President and CEO of NALCAB. “Through our partnership with Truist Foundation, the Maker-to-Market Accelerator will help local manufacturers to secure capital, scale-up production, and access new distribution channels. In turn, these businesses will create jobs and lasting wealth in their communities.”
“At Truist Foundation, we are committed to building better lives and communities by investing in small businesses that fuel local economies and create opportunities for all,” said Lynette Bell, head of Truist Philanthropy and president of Truist Foundation. “Our support of NALCAB and the Maker‑to‑Market Accelerator reflects that commitment by helping nonprofit organizations break down barriers and equip makers and manufacturers with the tools they need to grow, create jobs, and thrive.”
