Board Member
Mileyka Burgos-Flores is a Dominican-American nonprofit leader and community development practitioner with expertise in nonprofit management, strategic planning, resource development, communications, and community economic development. She is the founding Executive Director of The Allapattah Collaborative, CDC, a place-based nonprofit organization in Miami focused on fostering neighborhood identity, supporting wealth-building strategies, and promoting equitable and sustainable community development.
Mileyka holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and a master’s degree from Florida International University. Her work is grounded in supporting inclusive growth and increasing access to opportunity for historically underrepresented communities. She has contributed to the development of organizations and initiatives that support youth development, civic engagement, and cultural preservation.
A recognized leader in her community, Mileyka was named a “Neighborhood Hero” in 2017 by the City of Miami for her work advancing local innovation. She is the founding Vice President of Miami Next Leaders and has served on several boards, including the Dade Heritage Trust, Allapattah Community Advisory Council, The Advocate Program, and the FIU Research Center for Minority Institutions.
Mileyka is an alum of several leadership and community development programs, including the University of South Florida Community Real Estate Development Fellowship (2016), Miami’s New Leaders Council Fellowship (2017), Radical Partners Leadership Lab (2018), the University of Miami Community Scholars in Affordable Housing program (2019), and NALCAB’s Pete Garcia Community Economic Development Fellowship (2019). Most recently, she was selected as a 2022 Fulcrum Fellow with the Center for Community Investment, where she focused on shared equity models to expand community ownership and prevent displacement.
