Derek evaluates and executes NALCAB’s investments in lending capital to small business lenders and project-based community facilities. In his role as Senior Investment Analyst, he researches trends, maintains procedures, and ensures operational efficiency and compliance.

Before joining NALCAB, Derek had a distinguished 14-year career across small business lending, financial services, and higher education administration.

Earlier in his career, Derek built a foundation in student financial services, specializing in loan origination, portfolio management, and business operations. He partnered across departments to streamline recruitment, enhance retention, and handle financial processes. Most recently, he has excelled in senior underwriting and project management, leading small business credit analysis, strengthening quality assurance, and driving operational efficiency. Derek brings deep expertise in credit risk assessment, loan origination, regulatory compliance, financial counseling, and strategic operational planning.

Derek’s background in underwriting and project management strengthens NALCAB’s portfolio management and contributes meaningfully to the organization’s growth and impact.

Born and raised in San Antonio, Derek is dedicated to serving mission-driven organizations in his hometown. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's in Organizational Development & Leadership From the University of the Incarnate Word.
