Sr. Director of Programs
Colton supports NALCAB’s Neighborhood Development, Rural Capacity Building, and Community Compass programs to expand access to affordable housing, strengthen rural communities, and improve the efficacy of federal funding.
Through NALCAB, Colton has led needs assessments of – and provided technical assistance to - local governments, public housing authorities, and community-based organizations. Colton led NALCAB’s re-launch of the VISTA Affordable Housing Preservation Project (VAHPP). A national program run in partnership with two federal agencies and a national tenant-led organization, VAHPP members supported the formation and effectiveness of tenant associations and educated tenants of HUD-assisted properties on their rights.
Before joining NALCAB, Colton worked on corridor and housing redevelopment initiatives at a community development corporation and later worked at the City of San Antonio, where he oversaw the implementation of CDBG and HOME funded programs.
Colton is an AmeriCorps alum and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Colorado State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from St. Mary’s University.
