Northwest Area FoundationSan Antonio (November 1, 2012) — NALCAB - The National Association for Latino Community Asset Builders announced today the availability of $200,000 in grants for nonprofit organizations providing services to immigrant communities in the Northwest Area region. The funds are made possible with the generous support of the Northwest Area Foundation. Beginning today, November 1, eligible organizations may apply for grants that will range between $20,000 to $30,000. Request for Proposals (RFP) must be submitted no later than November 28, 2012. NALCAB builds and expands nonprofit asset-building infrastructure across the Northwest that can competently serve Latino and immigrant communities and thereby bring equitable and enduring change to low-income Latino and immigrant communities across the region.

Eligible Organizations

Eligible organizations are organizations that provide culturally and linguistically relevant asset building services in the eight state region that includes: Idaho, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Oregon, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Washington

Eligible asset building services include

  • Real estate development which includes affordable housing, community facilities and commercial development.
  • Micro-small business development services.
  • Providing wealth-building products and services (including but not limited to financial education homebuyer counseling, free tax preparation, and IDAs).

Organizations that do not provide services within the Northwest Area eight state region are not eligible to apply.

Application Criteria

All funding applications will be evaluated based on a 100-point scale with additional points available for the criteria indicated in the RFP. The following point allocation will be used:

  • Organizational Description (10 points)
  • Community Need for Asset Building Services (20 points)
  • Description of program (20 points) 
  • Assessing and Evaluating Your Impact in the Community (30 points)
  • Capacity Building Impact on the Applicant (10 points)
  • Proposed Use of Funds: Budget & Justification (10 points)
  • Bonus Points (2 points)

Application Deadline

Applications should be received no later than midnight PST on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Applications may be submitted via email to Carol Rodriguez at crodriguez@nalcab.org.

If you choose to send your proposal by regular mail, the package must be postmarked no later than Wednesday, November 28, 2012. NALCAB will confirm the receipt of grant applications by email during normal business hours. The delivery address is:
